Some people can’t appreciate others for being different. Some people can’t appreciate themselves for being different. I made a pact with myself that I would always speak up in my own defense, and for others in need. I shared my story with others and became the inspiration for a Gay Straight Alliance within my after school program StreetSquash. I embrace this club because I don’t want anyone to ever feel as if they have to struggle or no one was there for them. For this reason I can proudly say that I am living life as happier and better me.
This is the last part of my college essay which shows I am finally finished and I am very happy with the outcome.
I think it is great thank you have made this peace with yourself and now you are taking the initiative to help others embrace that peace. Sometimes I think finding everlasting happiness is the purpose of life, and from this post I see that you have attained a piece of that happiness. I am slowly trying to find my happy again, but reading things like this do plaster a smile on my face :)
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you started a Gay Straight Alliance. If you ever decide to do a book club within your group, Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan received really good reviews, although I haven't read it yet.
